Νίκος Κρυωνίδης – Nikos Kryonidis

Ο Νίκος Κρυωνίδης γεννήθηκε στην Ξάνθη το 1963 και ζει στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Είναι απόφοιτος της Αρχιτεκτονικής Σχολής του Α.Π.Θ. Από το 1990 εκθέτει σε ατομικές και ομαδικές εκθέσεις. Έργα του βρίσκονται στις συλλογές του Κρατικού Μουσείου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης, του Μακεδονικού Μουσείου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης στη Θεσσαλονίκη και στο American College Of Greece στην Αθήνα και σε ιδιωτικές συλλογές.

Ο Νίκος Κρυωνίδης διαχειρίζεται την υλική υπόσταση της ζωγραφικής μέσω της χειρονομίας, της ύλης και της αυτόματης γραφής. Το έργο του αποκαλύπτεται σε ένα πρώτο στάδιο ερμητικό και απόκρυφο, ενώ σε ένα δεύτερο επίπεδο κάθε σχήμα, μορφή ή χειρονομιακή χάραξη καθορίζει την ιδιαιτερότητά του κατευθύνοντας την ερμηνεία των χωρο-χρονικών σημαινόντων. Οι ζωγραφικές αεικίνητες χειρονομιακές ενέργειες, ως ασκήσεις αυτοανάλυσης (απλώνω, επιχρίζω, καλύπτω, γράφω, χρωματίζω, χαράζω, σβήνω, συνδέω, αναμιγνύω) μεταφέρονται ως σχήματα ύφους που εμπλουτίζονται με υποχθόνιες σημασίες διαισθητικής ενόρασης. Τα ίχνη ως νύξεις, υποδείξεις, υπαινιγμοί, συναντούν τα χρωματικά επαναλαμβανόμενα χειρονομιακά παιχνίδια της γραμμής/γραφής (χρήση δακτύλων). Αυτή η εμμονή της κινητικής και χρωματικής ενέργειας μεταλλάσσει διαρκώς το στατικό σημείο της πρώτης εγχάραξης/αποτυπώματος, ενεργοποιώντας τη λευκή επιφάνεια του χαρτιού ή του μουσαμά.

Nikos Kryonidis was born in Xanthi, a small and picturesque town of North Greece in 1963. He graduated from the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He realized many solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His works are found in the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art and the State Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, the American College of Greece in Athens and in private collections. He paints with his fingers and depicts pictureless actions – traces on small and large surfaces of paper or canvas. He designs the human body, illustrates animals, creates compositions with objects of common use and plastic models of animals on small wall surfaces or in large installations in internal spaces or in the country. He writes texts about art, poems and songs which he performs on stage.

Nikos Kryonidis handles the material aspect of his painting through gesture, material and automatic script. His work reveals itself to us at first glance as closed and hermetic, while on a second level each form and shape, each gesture, determines its special identity, guiding our interpretation of the signifiers in time and space. Perpetually moving gestural actions as exercises in self-analysis (spreading the paint, covering the surface, writing, colouring, etching, erasing, linking and blending) are conveyed as textural shapes enriched with subterranean meanings of intuitive vision. Traces as intimation, indication and implication encounter the recurrent coloured gestural games on line and script (use of fingers to apply paint). This obsessive energy in motion and colour continually transforms the initial, static design, activating the white surface of the paper or canvas . “Unparalleled take off and flight.
